Diesel Fitter Apprentices would generally be involved in the repair/servicing and maintenance of heavy earthmoving and rail track maintenance machinery. The work may also involve the repair, servicing and maintenance of small and stationary plant and equipment (ie: mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, compressors, rail cutting and grinding equipment, and generating sets). It would also be expected that the apprentice would perform these duties on petrol and diesel engines, cooling systems, Powershift transmissions, brakes, clutches, gear boxes, fuel pumps, axle assemblies, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical equipment related to these items.
As a QR Diesel Fitter apprentice, you will participate in a structured training program. We provide ongoing support and encouragement for the duration of your apprenticeship.
To apply for this great opportunity you will need to be eager to learn and have a keen interest in mechanics. A background or a Pre Vocational certificate in a mechanical field would be advantageous but not mandatory.
Qualification Obtained: Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
